West Caldwell

PSE&G and its contractors will begin activity along the right-of-way (ROW) to help strengthen the electric system. In the coming weeks, you may see PSE&G or its contractors along the ROW installing access roads (only matting). This is to allow for access of PSE&G bucket truck to the structures.

The Roseland – Cedar Grove 230kV Reconductor Project is a PJM-approved merchant network upgrade that re-conductors two transmission lines, in parallel, from the PSE&G Roseland Switching Station in Roseland to the PSE&G Cedar Grove Switching Station in Cedar Grove. All of the existing transmission lattice towers will be re-used and reinforced, as needed. There will not be any foundation or other subsurface work at the tower locations. In addition, new hardware and insulators will be installed for the entire length of the lines.

The linear maintenance project is approximately 8 miles in length and runs along the transmission ROW through four municipalities in Essex County (Roseland Borough, West Caldwell Township, the Borough of North Caldwell, the Township of Cedar Grove) and one municipality in Passaic County (the Township of Little Falls). This project is expected to generate minimal noise. This work will take place only within the transmission ROW. The anticipated in-service date for this project is February 2021.

All work crews associated with the project will have credentials identifying them as working on behalf of PSE&G. Safety is our highest priority at PSE&G, and it is essential that you and anyone occupying your property refrain from going on the right-of-way during this activity.
