Reliability Project Overview
The Burlington Camden Reliability Project will upgrade 138kV to 230kV on existing overhead and underground transmission circuits in South Jersey. The upgrade will deliver increased electric capacity required by New Jersey business and residents, increase transfer capability, provide better power quality, and reduce transmission system congestion. The project also includes PSE&G station upgrades in Burlington City, Burlington Township, Willingboro, Cinnaminson, Pennsauken, Cherry Hill and Gloucester City.
Underground construction commenced 2Q 2011. Overhead construction commenced 1Q 2012 and station construction commenced 2Q 2012. The entire project is estimated to be in-service by 2Q 2014.
Along the existing PSE&G right-of-way, 138kV overhead transmission wires have been reconfigured and once energized will operate at 230kV. PSE&G’s Cinnaminson Substation is currently being upgraded from 138kV to 230kV.
All major construction activity associated with this project has been completed in Cinnaminson Township.
