PSE&G and its contractors will be upgrading the electric system in your neighborhood to continue to provide safe, reliable service. Approved by PJM Interconnection, these infrastructure upgrades include the addition of a 69,000-volt (69kV) network that will alleviate the demand on the existing network. These upgrades will increase both electric service reliability and system redundancy to ensure safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Since 2007, PSE&G has installed more than 400 miles of 69kV lines in more than 93 municipalities in New Jersey.
As part of these upgrades, PSE&G will install taller, sturdier utility poles and run new electric wires on the utility right of way along South Avenue in Westfield. The project will no longer involve work on Scotch Plains Avenue, Shackamaxon Drive, Rahway Avenue, Grove Street, Central Avenue, or Sycamore Street., as was previously communicated. In accordance with the Board of Public Utilities’ Vegetation Management Rules, we are required to trim and remove trees, where necessary. There are no planned service interruptions associated with this work.
PSE&G would like to invite you to learn more about the project at an upcoming public workshop. The workshop will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on April 10 at the Edison Intermediate School, 800 Rahway Ave., Westfield.
Project management will be available to answer your questions on an individual basis to get the information that is important to you. You can stop by the workshop at any time. Please note that there will be no formal presentation.
You can submit questions in advance of the workshop at email@example.com. If you have any questions or concerns, please call our toll free number at 1-800-901-5035.
