Somerville

Reliability Project Overview

PSE&G is currently conducting statewide electric reliability improvements to its utility infrastructure. These enhancements will improve both electric service reliability and system redundancy to ensure safe and reliable service to our customers. Throughout the state of New Jersey, PSE&G infrastructure upgrades will reduce the demand on the existing 26kV network. The projects will install 69kV circuits connecting PSE&G stations around the state.

Activity Overview

Please note:  PSE&G does not expect these projects to cause any service interruptions.

  • We will install taller, sturdier utility poles and run new electric wires along existing pole lines. Pole replacement will take place on W. Cliff Street, Green Street, W. Spring Street, W. Brown and W. Orchard and Ivanhoe Avenue in Somerville Borough.

To comply with the Board of Public Utilities’ Vegetation Management Rules, we may also trim and remove trees where necessary. Learn more.

Some aspects of these activities may result in unavoidable noise.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Lane closures and detours may occur during construction. PSE&G will work with the Somerville Borough police to keep traffic impacts to a minimum.

Safety is our highest priority.  It is essential that you and everyone using your property, including children and pets, refrain from going near our construction work zones.

Thank you for understanding as we improve electric service reliability for the region.
