December 2021 Update

Beginning on or about Monday, January 3, 2022 PSE&G crews and our approved contractors will be upgrading and replacing utility poles and electric wire along Texas Avenue.  Crews will progress along Princeton Pike throughout 2022.  Work hours will be between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, as well as some nights and weekends, as needed. All schedules are estimates, weather dependent and subject to change.

To safely complete this portion of work lane shifts with flaggers will be utilized.  PSE&G will work with the local police department to minimize any traffic concerns or inconveniences to the public.

In advance of the overhead construction activities, we may trim and/or remove trees along the route in compliance with the Board of Public Utilities’ Vegetation Management Rules. This may include trees in the public rights of way and on private property. If you are the owner of a tree on private property, you will be contacted by our Vegetation Management Department or one of our approved contractors.

September 2021 Update

On or around Tuesday, September 7, 2021, PSE&G will begin construction at the Texas Avenue Substation located at 2525 Brunswick Pike in Lawrence Township.  The existing station will be upgraded to enhance the electric transmission system’s reliability, while helping to ensure safe electrical service to customers in Lawrence Township and neighboring communities. The property at 20 Texas Avenue was purchased to accommodate the station reconfiguration.

During construction there will be some unavoidable noise and potential for vibrations from the site.  PSE&G will monitor all activities to ensure this work remains within acceptable limits and will work to minimize adverse impacts to the area. Please note:  PSE&G does not expect this project to cause any service interruptions.

Work hours will be between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, as well as some nights and weekends, as needed. The station will be in-service by December 2023, with landscaping and final restoration completed by the summer of 2024.  All schedules are estimates, weather dependent and subject to change.

If you have any questions or concerns about this project, please call the Texas Avenue Project information line at 1-800-606-0045.

The Texas Avenue Station Reconfiguration is a critical construction project that will help PSE&G continue to deliver safe, reliable electric service for our residents and businesses in the Lawrence area, as well as central and southern New Jersey.

Authorized by PJM Interconnection, the organization responsible for planning the transmission system in our region, this project is a multimillion-dollar investment designed to increase the reliability of the network. This project will replace and upgrade equipment that is near the end of its lifecycle and convert the existing 26kV network to 69kV, allowing for greater station resiliency. The project will also connect this station to the 69kV switchyards in neighboring stations in Lawrence, Ewing and Hamilton. To accommodate the Texas Avenue Station’s construction, PSE&G will purchase the adjacent property, located at 20 Texas Avenue.

As safety is PSE&G’s first priority, the utility is committed to working with the Lawrence Township Police Department to minimize any traffic concerns or inconvenience to the public during construction. Please note, there are no planned electric service outages due to this work. Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2021, with the station going in-service by the spring of 2023; landscaping and final restoration is slated for the fall of the same year.

If you have any questions or concerns about this project, please call the Texas Avenue Project information line at 1-800-606-0045.
