Hasbrouck Heights
Reliability Project Overview
PSE&G is currently conducting statewide electric reliability improvements to its utility infrastructure. These enhancements will improve both electric service reliability and system redundancy to ensure safe and reliable service to our customers. Throughout the state of New Jersey, PSE&G infrastructure upgrades will reduce the demand on the existing 26kV network. The projects will install 69kV transmission circuits connecting PSE&G stations around the state.
Activity Overview
Construction of a new, 69kV substation began the first quarter of 2019. The facility will enhance the electric transmission system's reliability, while helping to ensure safe service to residents and businesses in Harrison and neighboring communities.
Completed installation of new 69kV utility poles to connect Hasbrouck Heights (via Wood-Ridge and Moonachie) to Carlstadt. Project also completed a two-story, gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) building and control house in 2020.
The addition of a new 69kV supply source to the South 5th Street substation will not only simplify operations and improve reliability, it will also ensure adequate capacity for future growth.
